Boudh District is an administrative and municipal district in Odisha, India. It is one of thirty districts in the state. The city of Boudh serves as the district headquarters for the Boudh District. Boudh is noted for its ancient Buddha sculptures, caverns, and century-old temples. Padmatola and Satakosia Sanctuary
The magnificent Satakosia Gorge, with its lush green trees and diverse wildlife, is located towards the sanctuary’s conclusion. The sanctuary gets its name from Sata (seven) and Kosh (two miles), which translates to 14 miles or 22 kilometres. The majestic Satkosia gorge, acclaimed as one of the most enchanting spots in the country, is actually the meeting point of Chhotanagpur plateau forests, dry deciduous forests, and moist peninsular sal forests, and is a stronghold of tiger, leopard, elephant, spotted deer, chousingha, sloth beer, and a variety of resident and migratory birds, as well as different species of reptiles such as gharial, mugger,The place is ideal for boating and other adventure sports. A research and conservation unit was established at Tikarpada (close to the gorge during 1995 for rearing of gharials. So far 38 species of mammals, 128 species of birds, 27 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians and 183 species of fish have been recorded in the sanctuary.
Marjakuda Island
Marjakud is a beautiful Boudh island. It is located in the river Mahandai on the other side of Boudh town. There are about three thousand individuals that live here. The presiding goddess of this location is Maa Pitabali. It’s a great spot for a picnic.
Bhairabi Mandir Purunakatak
Purunakatak, located 30 kilometres from Boudh on the Boudh-Daspalla route, is a significant commercial centre. Goddess Bhairabi is the place’s presiding goddess. Previously, the god was worshipped in a thatched hut, but a local businessman recently built a temple. Goddess Bhairabi was the presinding goddess of the then Samanta Raja SarangadharaMahapatra, who was the Samanta Raja of the late Raja GandhamardanaDev of Dhrutipura of Gandharadi, the last King of the Brahmin dynasty of the 10th century AD. Durga Puja is celebrated here for 16 days. The freshly built MaheswarMahadev temple is directly across the street from the Bhairabi temple. During the Sivaratri celebration, a significant number of people from the surrounding area converge here. The Sevayats handle the operations of both temples and get lands in exchange for their services.
Jogindra Villa Palace
This is the palace of the ex-ruler of Boudh, known locally as Rajabati. This was built under the time of Raja Jogindra Dev, who was a kind and compassionate king. The palace is a lovely and attractive structure with a beautiful view of Mahanadi.
Rameswara Temple
The Ramswara or Ramanatha Temples, a set of three Siva temples in Boudh town dating back to the 8th century AD, are renowned for its unique characteristic. This temple has been conserved by the Archeological Survey of India. Boudh’s star-shaped temples devoted to PaschimaSomonatha, Bhubaneswar, and DhabaleswaraSiba play an essential role in the spectrum of mediaeval Orissan Temple design. These temples are located inside the compound of the Rameswara temple, which dates from the late era.
JAGATI (Charisambhu Temple)
The Charisambhu temple is located 16 kilometres from Boudh town, near the villages of Gandharadi and Jagati, historic Jagatipur, the capital of Somabansi King Jajati. The well-known twin temple combines Nilamadhava and Siddheswar. These temples were built in the eighth century AD under the patronage of Bhanja monarchs of the Khinjali Mandala. These two temples were erected on the same platform, right next to one other. The Archeological Survey of India has conserved these temples as a beautiful pilgrimage site.
Nayakpada Cave
The Nayakpada Cave is 12 kilometres from the town of Boudh. This cave was thought to be connected to mythology. Once upon a time, this cave housed a saddhu ashram. The woodland here is abundant in many forms of vegetation and wildlife. According to a narrative in MadalaPanji and other historical evidences, the Jabana king Raktabahu attacked ShrikhetraPuri during the reign of Emperor SovanDev. Fearing for the god Sri Jagannath, the strong Bhanja monarch of Oddradesha (present-day Boudh region), who practised Vaishnavism and worshipped Lord Nilamadhaba at Gandharadi, moved the deities to Dhritipura under their realm. They buried (Patali) the deities at Gopali village, twelve miles from their city, because they thought Sri Jagannath (Purushottam) was Parama Vishnu. Gopalpur, a Gopali hamlet at the time, was located to the south of this Naikpada cave.
Dambarugada
The Dambarugada mountain is located 20 kilometres from Boudh town on the Boudh-Balangir route. Sangrampur is the name of the city. The Mahanadi River runs down the mountain, creating a stunningly spectacular picture. The mountain has a curved appearance from all sides. The mountain stands 70 feet tall.

How to Reach Boudh
Boudh is well connected to neighbouring district headquarters and the state capital, Bhubaneswar, via road and rail. The distance between Boudh and Bhubaneswar is 240 kilometres. Boudh is accessible through National Highway No. 224 (Khurdha-Balangir), which passes via Nayagarh and Charichhak, or via National Highway No. 42, which passes through Angul.
Bhubaneswar to Sambalpur Intercity Express, Hirakud Express, and other regular rail services are available from Bhubaneswar. To travel to Boudh, one must first stop at Rairakhole station. To get to Boudh, one must travel about 27 kilometres, either by bus or cab. Bhubaneswar is the closest airport.
