Longtharai Mandir

According to the Tripura Tribal dialect, Lord Shiva’s name is Longtharai in the KOK-BOROK language. According to legend, after Shiva returned from Kailash, he slept at the Longtharai hill for a while. Longtharai is the name given to the hill as a result. Longtharai can alternatively be translated as “Deep Valley.” This temple is also a renowned tourist attraction in the Dhalai District.

Kamaleshwari Mandir

The temple is located in the Dhalai District’s Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat. This temple lies in the heart of town and is a popular pilgrimage destination. Goddess Kali is also known as Kamaleswari. The temple is called after Kamalpur, the biggest Sub-divisional Town. Kamaleswari Mandir is 35 kilometres from Ambassa, Dhalai’s district headquarters, and 122 kilometres from Agartala, Tripura’s state capital.

Dumboor Lake

Dumboor Lake is a lovely water feature located 120 kilometres from Agartala in the Amarpur Sub Division. The lake has the appearance of a tabour-shaped tiny drum, Lord Shiva’s “Dumboor,” from which the name “Dumboor” derives. A large and stunning water feature of 41 square kilometres with an endless spell of lush green foliage all around, the lake is impressive for her extraordinarily attractive beauty and 48 islands in the middle. Additional attractions include migratory birds and water sports. Near the lake where the River Gomati originates, there is a Hydel Project named Tirthamukh, where the famed ‘Pous Sankranti Mela’ takes place every year on January 14th.

The lake is formed by the confluence of the Raima and Sarma rivers. During the winter, a variety of migrating bird species may be seen, and there is a large reservoir of natural and cultivated fish. “Narkel Kunja” has been developed on one of the islands.

The greatest time to visit Dhalai is after the monsoons have passed and the winters have arrived. As a result, the months following October to March-April are ideal for visiting the district.

By Air

Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore, Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore, Maharaja Bir Bi Manikya Bahadur Airport (IATA: IXA, ICAO: VEAT), commonly known as Agartala Airport and formerly known as Singerbhil Airport, is a domestic airport located 12 kilometres (7 miles) northwest of Agartala. It is well linked with daily flights from Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai.

District HQ, Ambassa Helipads in Dalubari (3km from HQ), Kamalpur (40km from HQ), Gandacherra (55km from HQ), and Longtharai Valley link Dhalai (30KM from HQ). You must purchase your tickets from Agartala.

By Train

Agartala and Silchar, Assam, provide daily rail service to Ambassa (Station Code: ABSA). Every Monday, the Tripura Sundari Express departs from Anand Vihar (ANVT). Every Friday, the Humsafar Express departs from Benguluru (BNC). The Kanchanjunga Express departs Sealdah every Thursday and Sunday (SDAH).

By Road

From Agartala, the Tripura Road Transport Corporation operates daily bus services. For Ambassa, a variety of private bus and vehicle operators are accessible from Chandrapur Motorstand in Agartala.
