Top Tourist Attractions in Kamrup

Kamrup Rural district, or simply Kamrup district, is an administrative district in the Indian state of Assam, created by separating the previous Kamrup district into two in 2003; the other is Kamrup Metropolitan district, named after the territory it encompasses.

In Kamrup, there are a lot of religious tourism destinations. The Madan Kamdev Temple, set against a backdrop of beautiful hills and calm rivulets, is one of the district’s most prominent tourist attractions. This temple is located atop Dewangiri’s tiny hill, and the region is littered with archaeological relics from a bygone age. A variety of statues, such as the four-headed Shiva, the six-sided Bhairava, and devils, may attract your attention. As this was the temple of the deity of love and desire, there are also remains of sculptures of men and women in the region. Hayagriva Madhava Temple, located atop Hajo’s Monikut hill, is one of Kamrup’s must-see attractions.
