Narnala Fort

Narnala is a hill stronghold in Maharashtra, India, named after Rajput ruler Narnala Singh. Narnala was named after Rajput ruler Narnal Singh or Narnal Swami. Gond Kings erected the fort in 10 A.D. Mughals occupied and rebuilt the fort in the 15th century, giving it the name Shahnoor Fort. Narnala was one of Berar Subah’s thirteen sarkar. Narnala is made up of three tiny forts: Zafarabad (or Jafarabad) to the east, Narnala to the centre, and Teliagarh to the west.

It has a historical significance dating back to the Khilji Dynasty and was one of the Sarkar Subah Berar throughout the mediaeval period. The fort is named after the renowned Muslim saint Hazrat Burhanuddin “BAGH SAWAR WALI,” and it is stated that the hazrat was accompanied by several white tigers at the time.
