Okhla Bird Refuge is a bird sanctuary located on the Yamuna River’s Okhla barrage. The Government of Uttar Pradesh recognised a 3.5 square kilometre (1.4 square mile) region on the Yamuna River as a bird sanctuary in 1990 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The sanctuary’s most visible feature is a big lake formed by damming the river, which lies between Okhla village to the west and Gautam Budh Nagar to the east. The Okhla Bird Sanctuary (OBS) is around 4 square kilometres in size and is located near the entrance to NOIDA in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar district.

It is located at the point when the Yamuna River enters Uttar Pradesh, leaving the boundaries of Delhi. It is one of the state’s fifteen bird sanctuaries.
