JALORE FORT:

The primary attraction in Jalore is the Jalore Fort. It is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan that was built in the 10th century as one of the nine fortresses of the Maru’, under the Paramaras. It is one of the most well-known and spectacular forts in the state, and has been referred to throughout history as the Sonagir or the “golden mount.” Its exact year of construction is unknown, however it is thought to have been built during the eighth and tenth centuries. The fort of Jalore is perched on a steep and vertical hill. It commands the town from a 336m high rocky outcrop built with a wall and bastions with artillery mounted on them. The fort features four massive gates, but it is only accessible from one side, following a two-mile serpentine ascent.

The approach to the fort is from the north, up a steep, slick road through three rows of fortifications to a single 6.1m high rampart wall. Climbing up takes one hour. The fort is constructed in the style of traditional Hindu architecture.

Sundha Mata Shrine is a 900-year-old Mother Goddess temple located on a hilltop called ‘Sundha.’ At 1220 m in the Aravalli hills, on SundhaMountain, is a temple dedicated to the goddess Chamunda Devi, a highly sacred spot for worshippers. A wildlife sanctuary covering an area of 107 square kilometres near KHODESWAR MHADEV in the JAWIYA forest area is also a wonder wild life and natural location.
