Lower Manair Dam construction began in 1974 and was completed in 1985. It is a dam made of earth and masonry. The dam height above the deepest foundation is 41 metres (135 feet); the earth dam’s greatest height is 88 feet (27 m). The dam’s length is 10,471 metres (34,354 feet), and its top width is 24 feet (7.3 m). It has a volume content of 5.41 million cubic metres and a reservoir water spread area of 81 square kilometres (31 square miles) at a FRL of 920.00 feet. The reservoir has a gross storage capacity of 680 million cubic metres and a live storage capacity of 380.977 million cum. The spillway is built for a discharge capacity of 14,170 cubic metres (500,000 cu ft)/second (and is controlled by 20 gates[6] measuring 15.24 by 7.31 metres (50.0 ft 24.0 ft), but the largest measured flood discharge is 9,910 cubic metres (350,000 cu ft)/second.
