Shaheed Smarak -ChauriChaura

On 4 February 1922, a large gathering of demonstrators engaging in the Non-cooperation movement battled with police, who opened fire, at Chauri Chaura in the Gorakhpur district of the United Province (modern Uttar Pradesh) in British India. In revenge, protesters assaulted and burned down a police station, murdering all of its occupants. Three civilians and 23 police officers were killed in the event. As a direct result of this occurrence, Mahatma Gandhi, who was adamantly opposed to violence, put an end to the Non-cooperation Movement on a countrywide scale on February 12, 1922.

Tarkulha Devi

The Tarkulha Devi Temple is well-known among Hindu worshippers. Senani Babu Bandhu Singh’s liberation warrior Tarkulaha Devi was his Ishta Devi. Every year, on the eve of Chaitra Ramnavmi, a one-month-long fair is held.

Maghar

Maghar is a town and a nagar panchayat in the Uttar Pradesh district of Sant Kabir Nagar. Kabir, a 15th-century poet-saint whose samadhi was erected by Hindus and mazaar by Muslims, is buried adjacent to each other. Maghar was originally known as ‘Margharan,’ which means ‘abduction on the route.’ As a result, no one desired to visit the town. Once upon a time, a saint who was harassed by dacoits cursed the town, declaring it would be a barren place with nothing to loot. It is reported that Kabir meditated here and that it rained while he was doing so. Maghar was no longer a desolate wasteland from that day forward. Kabir even decided to die in Maghar in order to disprove the idea that he would go to hell.

It is thought that Kabir transmitted a message that one should not mindlessly follow the tradition of swarming to Varanasi in order to gain moksha.
