Lord Curzon Gate

In 1903, the Maharaja of Bardhaman erected this massive gate at the intersection of GT Road and BC Road to commemorate Sri Bijoy Chand Mahatab’s coronation. The building was given the name “Curzon Gate” after a visit by Viceroy of India Lord Curzon in 1904. It was called “Bijoy Toron” in the post-independence era.
