WHAT IS AKSHARDHAM

The term ‘Akshardham’ refers to God’s divine dwelling. It is revered as an everlasting haven of devotion, purity, and tranquilly. The Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi is a Mandir – a Hindu temple, a spiritual and cultural complex dedicated to devotion, learning, and harmony. Its art and architecture reflect timeless Hindu spiritual themes, strong devotional traditions, and historic architecture. The mandir is a modest homage to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781-1830), as well as Hinduism’s avatars, devas, and great sages. With the blessings of HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the dedicated efforts of experienced artisans and volunteers, the traditionally-styled structure was opened on November 6, 2005.

The Mandir, the Exhibitions, and even the Gardens of Akshardham reverberate with spirituality. Spanning two hundred murtis may be seen in the Akshardham mandir, symbolising numerous spiritual stalwarts over millennia. Each soul has the capacity to be divine, according to Akshardham’s spiritual concept. Whether we serve our families, our country, our neighbours, or all living beings on the planet, each act of service can help us grow closer to divinity. Each prayer is an invitation to better oneself and get closer to God.

A spiritually enlightening visit to Akshardham is a must. Each aspect has a spiritual meaning, whether it is realising the power of prayer, feeling the strength of nonviolence, understanding the global nature of Hinduism’s ancient teachings, or just appreciating the beauty of God’s dwelling on Earth.

Swaminarayan Akshardham (New Delhi) is a Hindu temple in New Delhi, India, as well as a spiritual-cultural complex. The shrine is located near the Noida boundary. The complex, which is also known as Akshardham Temple or Akshardham Delhi, exhibits millennia of traditional and modern Hindu culture, spirituality, and architecture. It was built by BAPS and was inspired by Yogiji Maharaj and developed by Pramukh Swami Maharaj.

The main shrine is the focal point and retains the centre location of the whole complex in Swaminarayan Akshardham New Delhi, identical to its predecessor Swaminarayan Akshardham in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. There are several display rooms that give information on Swaminarayan’s life and activities. The different display halls were designed using modern forms of communication and technology by the complex’s designers.

The complex includes an abhishek mandap, Sahaj Anand water show, a thematic garden, and three exhibitions: Sahajanand Darshan (Hall of Values), Neelkanth Darshan (an IMAX film on Swaminarayan’s early life as the teenage yogi, Neelkanth), and Sanskruti Darshan (an IMAX film on Swaminarayan’s early life as the teenage yog (cultural boat ride). According to Swaminarayan Hinduism, Akshardham refers to Swaminarayan’s habitation, which is regarded by devotees as God’s temporary residence on Earth.
